1 15oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 pound lean ground turkey or chicken
Add any burger toppings that you like! Just remember, things like condiments, buns, cheese etc all add up your calories. So pay attention to what you add, and measure out those condiments.
To make the burgers:
Add chickpeas to a bowl and mash with a potato masher or fork. There should be no whole chickpeas remaining. Add the chicken and some seasonings (salt, pepper, onion, garlic...) and mix until well blended. Divide the mixture into 6 patties (wet your hands first). Add a little oil to a skillet and turn on to medium heat. When the oil shimmers, it's ready. Add your patties and cook 5-6 minutes per side. Check one to make sure the chicken is all the way cooked before you eat.
Toast a bun- I used a pretzel bun, add cheese, tomato, lettuce.... whatever you like.
Super easy and delicious. Enjoy!
** Edit: I am unsure how these would do on a grill - they seem to hold together pretty well, but I'd be cautious.
